DIary of days and current work

Monday 16th August 2010

Location: Radisson Hotel London

OK sitting here in some posh hotel in London hmmm Apple not the food but the company very posh, very stylish so many animals here getting a bit freaked out by the horses. I forgot my HMV gift voucher DAMN! Ah well will have a little wander around Oxford Street afterwards should be a good show/ presentation/ thing 7 horses? why 7 horses? But I like the turtle and pig statues.

This place reminds me of the TV daytime show "Doctors" you know its a normal daytime TV show but then freaks you out with the freakish story lines (Dads sleeping with daughters, kidnapping people and dressing them up as babies). That's what I am feeling right now, that weird stomach feeling you get when you see something shocking but still like it at the same time.

Decided not to twitter any of this because of it being a serious day sitting here with my notebook in a hotel. Must look like a hotel critic, little do they know I am just some guy with a blog haha.

Location: London Underground

Ok on tube I think I am standing next to Ken Livingstone, going to the forbidden planet now. Not to buy anything I just have a wander round there tis a good shop but when I do have cash to spend god help my wallet. On a closer look it's not Ken Livingstone but some old guy that looks a bit like him from an angle. I hate when that happens you think you see someone from an angle and then it turns out not to be them. It makes my theory of evil twins to be deadly closer than first thought of. People holding different aspects of another person.
Location: Train home

On the train home now had a salad for lunch decided high time to get rid of some of this flab on my body and get into shape if I am gonna be cosplaying Jeice from Dragonball Z at the London MCM expo.

How comes everything I want on say DVD/BOOK/Video Game are never in the sales that all my popular shops have? DVDS are the things that puzzle me the most. The DVDs I usually go for the 2 disc editions of DVDs for films and the like. I think the extras on a DVD help make a sale. This started back when we got X-Men 2 on DVD one Xmas. It was the 1 disc version didn't mind because I love X-Men 2 had everything I wanted but one thing was the treatment of Colossus in the film. He was given one line and Hugh Jackman brushed him aside until X-Men 3 when he got replaced by a more known/unknown actor. Well the thing for the 1 disc edition was it was the disc 1 from the two disc edition. So all the extras on disc one were just the commentary of the film and a little subtitle saying " There are more extras on the second disc" which we didn't have. STOP TEASING ME DVD!
Even Brian Singer on the commentary was talking about the extras on the second disc, so I vowed never to buy a one disc version again, unless that was the only copy available at the time.

Animations and catch up

Sorry peeps of the interwebs, been so busy with everything almost forgot about this little blog of mine. So to ring in a new age of blogging behold the new layout!

Well first things first my final animation project is finished, all done and very happy with it. All of us animation 3rd years at Maidstone UCA are having a little private view at the University itself tomorrow. If you are in the maidstone area and don't mind a little hike up the hill towards education hill (Seriously about four schools/colleges/universitys are all wedged into one area). We are also having a show in London next week (29th June 7:00pm) we have a website so check it out!

So things are kicking into high speed which is the area of my life which I will no longer be a student. You know I think I have been ready for this for such a long time so just bring it. I have been working on a website to set up my animations so watch this space for website updates. The future of this blog will continue to show my drawings, animations and musings so don't worry peeps even though I will be all serious with work and adult things I will still post my crazyiness onto this blog.

Updates to come........................

*New Animation Projects
*Paranormal GI Diary
*Doodles

Research and work

Just a quick update and screencaps of stuff I have been working first some test footage. I want the film to have this Sin City colour scheme to the film. Also take a look at this Pixilation music video for the Band The Cure (The best band in the world), I have decided to record the live action parts of this project to be taken with a stills camera.

I am also working on a research book for the project rather then to hand in a half completed sketchbook, I need whose white pages to draw! So I am drawings these kind of sticker like versions of myself to decorate the book.

A new blog a new project

Well its the final project, its the final year (Oh my god the real world looms). For this project I have decided to work on an idea which has many messages.

.........................................................................................

Project Title: ROBOTS

The Idea
The idea is the effects of breaking a relationship, taking something for granted and the way in which relationships change. I have changed the outcome to that of a story of a robot and its charger. The robot is tempted by the concept of freedom in the outside world, but due to the window being smashed the robot's view of the outside has been distorted.

The concept
The way in which I am going to animate this film is by using 2d animation through flash and stop motion through pixelation. The combination of the two with help from After Effects will create an animation which is clever and interesting to watch.

Research and Insprirado!
While I was researching this p[roject I came over this music video that was directed by Helen Clemens, it is for the song Losing Friends over Love by Eskimo Joe:

Next I have become a great fan of Brian Lee O'Mailey and especially his water colour work. I recently was able to get his Odds and Ends 2008 colour edition of his Scott Pilgrim series. I feel the texture of the brishstrokes are very pleasing to the eye.

For the backgrounds of the piece I have decided to make the outside world natural but also metal. I remember from an episode of Transformers (The Key to vector Sigma Part 2), Megatron was able to turn the organic life on earth to metalic with the power of the key.

This is what I want my environment to look like. It has aspects of our worlds but also it is alien to us. So the piece will have aspects of Freud's Theory of the uncanny, as you can see I am trying to create a piece which has a "multi-meaning" to it. I am trying to fight all ways in which the viewing audience will interperate.

The character design is one which I want to take from various concepts. One of the main influences is that of comic artist Jamie Hewlet, Hewlet is most famous for his comic TANKGIRL but also for the characters of the cartoon band Gorillaz.

Jamie Hewlet also created this short for the 2008 Olympics using the characters from the Journey to the west story, which he and David Albarm turned into an Opera.

Will being posting more with images and tests

Till then BYE BYE and CYA LATER
