Research and work

Just a quick update and screencaps of stuff I have been working first some test footage. I want the film to have this Sin City colour scheme to the film. Also take a look at this Pixilation music video for the Band The Cure (The best band in the world), I have decided to record the live action parts of this project to be taken with a stills camera.

I am also working on a research book for the project rather then to hand in a half completed sketchbook, I need whose white pages to draw! So I am drawings these kind of sticker like versions of myself to decorate the book.

A new blog a new project

Well its the final project, its the final year (Oh my god the real world looms). For this project I have decided to work on an idea which has many messages.

.........................................................................................

Project Title: ROBOTS

The Idea
The idea is the effects of breaking a relationship, taking something for granted and the way in which relationships change. I have changed the outcome to that of a story of a robot and its charger. The robot is tempted by the concept of freedom in the outside world, but due to the window being smashed the robot's view of the outside has been distorted.

The concept
The way in which I am going to animate this film is by using 2d animation through flash and stop motion through pixelation. The combination of the two with help from After Effects will create an animation which is clever and interesting to watch.

Research and Insprirado!
While I was researching this p[roject I came over this music video that was directed by Helen Clemens, it is for the song Losing Friends over Love by Eskimo Joe:

Next I have become a great fan of Brian Lee O'Mailey and especially his water colour work. I recently was able to get his Odds and Ends 2008 colour edition of his Scott Pilgrim series. I feel the texture of the brishstrokes are very pleasing to the eye.

For the backgrounds of the piece I have decided to make the outside world natural but also metal. I remember from an episode of Transformers (The Key to vector Sigma Part 2), Megatron was able to turn the organic life on earth to metalic with the power of the key.

This is what I want my environment to look like. It has aspects of our worlds but also it is alien to us. So the piece will have aspects of Freud's Theory of the uncanny, as you can see I am trying to create a piece which has a "multi-meaning" to it. I am trying to fight all ways in which the viewing audience will interperate.

The character design is one which I want to take from various concepts. One of the main influences is that of comic artist Jamie Hewlet, Hewlet is most famous for his comic TANKGIRL but also for the characters of the cartoon band Gorillaz.

Jamie Hewlet also created this short for the 2008 Olympics using the characters from the Journey to the west story, which he and David Albarm turned into an Opera.

Will being posting more with images and tests

Till then BYE BYE and CYA LATER
